My account is eight years old, I'm no vet, I've been away for a long time and have little idea what I'm doing hehe just having a read through various things and saw this.
I figured I would post here because, despite my lack of current knowledge, I find myself in a reasonably comfortable position within the game now. I was flying things I can't use as an alpha clone but can make just about every ship that I can use.
Way back in 2008 my brother and I started a little corp when we joined the game, we found a quiet little spot near main routes and started mining etc with the hopes of building up resources to mitigate any loses we encountered on the way (Having your own ship yard is good right?) it went ok, was able to buy bits and pieces, but our quiet little spot was very quiet, sometimes you would see folk stop by but, apart from miners occasionally it was empty, was nothing in it you couldn't get anywhere else.
Still we weren't bringing in billions but we weren't going broke, we could run missions or fly places we new better than to fly and had ships there already built to replace them and we were still quite new to the game by all standards but we never found it too difficult to progress at a pace we were happy with.
For various reasons we stopped playing, but I've always stopped by from time to time for a look, I've just logged in for a look and my quiet little spot now seems to be a very busy little spot (which I had figured it would turn into when I chose it) there's me sitting in it with the makings of a shipyard and no one selling for several jumps, some old stock has already sold pretty quick and while I'm not rich, I can afford to place a few buy orders for materials.
I guess why I made this post is to show that just a little bit of thought and forward planning can really work out in eve (like mine sort of has, far different story had been active and taken advantage of the growth and extra skill training etc) but I had never intended my operation to be an over night thing, or a major operation, It was always just a means to resupply ships that were lost. I can go now learn what I am doing again and then take advantage of all the work I put in way back when.
